How we repair electric vehicles

Every electric vehicle repair follows a structured process designed to prioritise safety, quality and accuracy. From initial assessment to final checks, we keep your repair moving with care.

1

Assess and isolate

We inspect the damage, move your EV to a designated work area and safely isolate the high-voltage system before any repair work begins.

2

Repair with precision

Our trained technicians complete the required collision repairs using dedicated EV procedures, quality parts and proven repair techniques.

3

Recommission your EV

Once repairs are complete, we safely rearm the vehicle, carry out final quality checks and confirm all systems are operating as intended.

4

Ready to get back on the road

Before collection, your electric vehicle is charged so it's ready to drive away with confidence once your repair is complete.

Ongoing technician training

Our team continues to build its EV knowledge as technology evolves, helping deliver safe, consistent repairs.

As EVs began appearing more frequently in our workshops, we recognised the need to upskill and prepare our teams accordingly. What was once an occasional job has grown to represent roughly one in every ten vehicles we service. In 2022, we invested in formal training to address the rise of both hybrid and fully electric vehicles, and today all 27 of our stores are equipped and certified to work on EVs.

Quick turn around and did a brillant job. Also was great to have the guys pick up / drop off my car and provide a loan car.

John Kurta

If I could give extra stars I would. First time using a panel shop and my expectations were greatly exceeded. I was kept in the loop on the progress and timing all the way through and the car honestly looks as new. Amazing work and communication from Chris and the rest of the group. I describe myself as fussy so am even more impressed. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.

Tim Whitbourn

Honest, readable and fantastic workmanship. One of very few businesses that tick all the boxes. Very friendly staff, great communication, very informative , excellent quality of work. I would defiantly recommend them. Hopefully won’t have any other accident but if I do I know where to go. Well done to the team.

Anisa Moghaddam

Sheen did a fantastic job, they winched my car and trailer out of a deep ditch and repaired the car quite quickly. Everyone I dealt with from the tow truck driver to the guys in the office or repair shop were terrific they always either answered my calls or promptly got back to me. My car was repaired beautifully. Thanks everyone at Sheen.

frequently asked
questions

Can you repair all types of electric vehicles?
A simple plus symbol in blue

Yes. Sheen repairs fully electric vehicles (EVs), hybrid vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). Our technicians are trained to work on a wide range of makes and models using dedicated smash repair procedures designed for high-voltage vehicles. Whether you've been involved in a minor collision or a more significant accident, we follow strict safety processes throughout every repair.

Are your technicians trained to repair EVs?
A simple plus symbol in blue

Yes. Our technicians complete nationally recognised EV training, and every Sheen workshop has authorised team members trained to safely isolate, repair, and recommission electric vehicles. We continue to invest in EV education and equipment, so our teams can confidently repair the latest electric and hybrid models as technology evolves.

What happens before an EV repair begins?
A simple plus symbol in blue

Safety always comes first. Before repairs begin, your electric vehicle is moved to a designated work area where the high-voltage system is safely isolated, and the vehicle is depowered. Only once these safety procedures have been completed do our technicians begin the collision repair process. After repairs, the vehicle is safely recommissioned and quality checked before being returned to you.

Can you help with my insurance claim?
A simple plus symbol in blue

Absolutely. Sheen specialises in insurance smash repairs and can support you through the claims process. We work with all major insurers and help coordinate your repair while keeping you informed along the way. If required, we can also arrange 24/7 towing and an accident replacement vehicle to help keep you moving while your EV is being repaired.

Where can I learn more about EV safety?
A simple plus symbol in blue

If you'd like to understand more about owning and operating an electric vehicle in Australia, the Australian Government's Green Vehicle Guide provides independent information on EV technology, charging and safety. It's a helpful resource alongside the advice and support you'll receive from our trained technicians.
