Damage beyond the rear impact

The X-Trail was struck from behind before entering a roundabout. While the rear took the main impact, the force also knocked much of the vehicle’s right-hand side out of position. This meant the repair needed to address damage extending beyond the immediately visible rear panels.

How we repaired the Nissan X-Trail

Isolating the hybrid battery

Before repair work began, the X-Trail’s hybrid battery was safely disarmed so the team could work on the accident-damaged vehicle safely.

Removing the damaged parts

The damaged components were removed to prepare the X-Trail for repair, including work around the rear bumper and back right-hand quarter.

Replacing the rear quarter

The damaged back-right-hand quarter was replaced, while the remaining affected panels were repositioned and reassembled as part of the repair.

Matching the paint finish

Computerised colour matching was used during refinishing to achieve a consistent finish between the repaired areas and the X-Trail’s existing paintwork.

After repairs, the hybrid battery was rearmed, and ADAS calibration was completed before the X-Trail was returned to pre-accident condition.
